It’s been more than five years since St. Louis CITY SC CEO Carolyn Kindle helped lead an expansion bid to bring Major League Soccer to St. Louis. And while it has been a roller coaster on the field at times, the team’s impact on the community is undeniable. “It’s been a game-changer,” Carolyn Kindle says of CITY SC’s Downtown West campus. There’s Energizer Park, which Prix Versailles recognized as “The World’s Most Beautiful Sports Venue” in 2024.

Opera Theatre of Saint Louis announced today it’s under contract to purchase what’s been described as “the most valuable real estate in the St. Louis area”—6.7 acres of the Caleres company headquarters in downtown Clayton. The opera nonprofit aims to raze the main building and construct in its place a new performing arts center. Caleres, formerly Brown Shoe Company, began publicly seeking a buyer for the site, which totals 9 acres, in 2021.

The race for St. Louis’ 7th aldermanic ward—which stretches through southeast city, from Tiffany through Tower Grove East to Benton Park West—is seeing high-dollar attention. Mailers dropped late last week from the curiously named 71 Percent PAC. By curiously, we mean that no one has any idea what that percentage refers to, although the mailers were clearly designed to help Cedric Redmon, who is challenging Alderwoman Alisha Sonnier.
