Sunshine finally returns Sunday

Happy Sunday!Enjoy this day of rest, with a side of a little sunshine this time around. We are finally shaking some of this persistent moisture and allowing some sunshine to slip into the forecast. We will see temperatures improve along with it! Highs range in the 60s for the majority of the state. Wile most of the active moisture gets out of here, a light stray shower can't be ruled out.
Heavy rain lingers for portions of the state

Friday evening has seen quite a bit of rain push through portions of the state. Select communities near the I-95 corridor and along the western portion of the bay are expected to see high rain totals by Saturday morning. Anywhere from an inch to an inch and a half of rain can be expected along this region. Paired with the ongoing drought, this rain could pose some flooding issues, but currently, no active watches or advisories have been issued.

Happy Monday!It's a bit gross as you step out the door this morning with temperatures hovering in the 40s and drizzle. Monday will shape up nicely for the afternoon hours as some rain begins to taper off and temperatures rise into the 60s. A gradual clearing looks to be in the works for the overnight hours into Tuesday. Tuesday into Wednesday, we see another scattered shot of rain with a dip in temperatures.

Good morning!Friday looks a little different from our set up 24 hours ago, with dry conditions to start us off. Winds are also a notable change for the last leg of the workweek and will continue to be breezy throughout the day. Temperatures struggle today with highs in the 50s. Sunshine with a mixture of clouds will carry us through the majority of the morning and afternoon hours, helping to boost our temps a bit. The weekend is trending dry, with another surge of warmer air on Saturday.

Good morning!Thursday brings mild temperatures and spring-like conditions to Maryland, with above-average highs and rain showers expected. Showers start for the morning commute and, as they push east, are expected to linger through the early afternoon. Temperatures soar into the 50s and 60s across the state for the first half of the day, but a strong frontal system will lower temperatures for the second half. Friday into the weekend we trend cooler with a mix of sun and clouds.

Happy Sunday!Today is looking absolutely fantastic, with highs in the middle to upper 40s across most of the state. Much-needed sunshine will carry us through the morning and afternoon hours of the day, and winds will be variable. Little to no change is expected throughout the day with a few clouds building by afternoon. Evening lows settle into the 30s overnight. Share In comparison, this year's data shows, on average, high temperatures and nighttime lows tracking below normal. Baltimore saw 9 daytime high temperatures above normal, with our warmest day of 58 degrees on January 29th. We saw a tie of our nightly highest low temperature for the month on the 1st and 31st at 39 degrees. On the other end of the spectrum, Baltimore saw 22 days below normal for highs. Our coolest temperature registered on the 21st of the month at 20 degrees.

As the first month of the year, January is always an interesting one. We have the opportunity to continue the previous year's trend of either below average or above, or even be the wild card by being completely average.

Share We did acquire some rain for the month, thankfully, that did improve our overall drought status. In total, December got 2.84" of rain over its 31 days. To put it into perspective, 'normals' for the month are 3.71" of rain. So, while this did improve our drought status, we ended the year still very much in a deficit. Moving on to temperatures, this was a bit of a surprise given our recent trend in November.
