A gas station in Sparrows Point sold a ticket that ended up being worth $50,000. The Edgemere Convenience at 7308 North Point Road sold the Bonus Match 5 ticket on Oct. 14. Each playslip has a 1 in 575,757 chance of winning the $50,000 prize — a roughly 0.0002% chance. Playing one board costs $1, according to the Maryland Lottery website.

Sparrows Point Park is set to open in January 2025. County officials gave members of the media a preview of the park, built on the land that Bethlehem Steel once occupied. The park is meant to honor the legacy of the community, officials emphasized. “I grew up here in southeast Baltimore County. I saw the decline when the old steel plant shut down,” County Executive Johnny Olszewski told journalists at the tour Friday.

Starting Nov. 4, drivers who pass a stopped Baltimore County school bus with its stop sign out will pay $250, the Baltimore County Police Department announced in a Facebook post. Baltimore County Public Schools started adding cameras to its roughly 1,000 school buses to catch drivers who failed to stop when the buses extended their stop sign in September. Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough announced the program on the first day of school in late August.

Gas prices averaged $3.10 per gallon in the Baltimore area on Monday, according to Gasbuddy — about 10 cents cheaper than a week ago but much more expensive than a month ago. It is, however, a lot cheaper than a year ago at this time. That price plots Baltimore three cents below the national average and four cents below the Maryland average, Gasbuddy says.

The results are in — and nobody won. Bidding for 19, 41 and 63 Shipping Place, as well 18 Center Place and a building on Commerce Street in Dundalk's historic town center started on Oct. 10 at noon and was scheduled to last until Oct. 15th at 1:00pm.
