Leicester-headquartered retailer Marks Electrical has slipped to a pre-tax loss despite generating record revenues during its latest financial year. The listed group sells, delivers, installs and recycles a range of household electrical products. It was founded in 1987 by chief executive Mark Smithson, and has expanded into a nationwide retailer. The company, which floated on AIM in 2021, has reported pre-tax losses of £1.7m for the year to 31 March 2025, down from profits of £616,000.

A buyer is being sought for a long-established distributor of bicycle components, accessories and maintenance products which supplies more than 1,000 retail and online shops across the UK after it collapsed into administration. The new chief executive of Halfords has hailed the motoring and cycling products group's "strong financial performance", with revenues rising and underlying pre-tax profits above expectations. However, the group confirmed that some garages are to close following a strategic review. The listed company has reported revenues of £1.715bn for the year to 28 March 2025, up from £1.712bn in 2024.
