TWIN FALLS — Kennan Huettig’s daily pursuit of his baseball dreams begins with about a 30-minute commute to school. A small price to pay for a Canyon Ridge senior who also travels to Boise every Sunday to visit a hitting coach. The journey will continue about 11 hours northeast as Huettig signed with NJCAA Dawson Community College (Montana) on Thursday. “It has been a long time coming,” Huettig told the Times-News.

Wood River graduate Johnny Radford never thought twice. Neither did his College of Idaho teammates. A simple decision after the Yotes, 2023 NAIA men’s basketball national champions, lost in the 2024 national semifinals. Run it back. Why not use a graduate year to pursue another national title? Radford did and the Yotes, with former College of Southern Idaho assistant Colby Blaine in charge, secured the 2025 national championship on Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

SUN VALLEY — Mikaela Shiffrin, more than 688 feet above thousands of packed fans standing shoulder to shoulder, heard the 'U-S-A' chants. Shiffrin listened to all the ringing cowbells and arrived to a decision. “I heard everybody cheering and I was like all right, f*** it,” the legendary American ski racer told reporters. “Let’s go.”Shiffrin didn’t cruise. She charged toward a two-run total of 1:45.92 and claimed the slalom title at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals on Thursday in Sun Valley.
