As obvious as it is, not everyone’s favorite games make the cut when awards season rolls around. We recently released our “Trendsetter” awards (which you can view here), but we like to go a step further. Recently, Star Wars: Outlaws released their first big DLC called Wild Card. During trailers, I felt we were going to be getting a story based around playing Kessel Sabacc, which was one of my favorite aspects of the main game. We had everything from a big, high stakes tournament to Lando to play against, and I was ready. While Wild Card didn’t deliver what I expected, it was a fun Star Wars story that explains a small part of what happens in-between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

I really enjoyed my time with Star Wars: Hunters on the Switch. It’s fast paced, easy to team up with friends, and was a lore friendly mobile Star Wars action game. Now, it’s close to being time for all you PC gamers to get a good look! Our friends at Zynga have a big announcement about an upcoming early access for Star Wars: Hunters on Steam. In May of 2022, I reviewed an indie title called Dungeons of Dreadrock and really enjoyed it. You can see my review of the first game here! A story of a sister breaking the rules of her society to save her brother from being given over to an evil presence hidden in the mountain castle. You go through 100+ levels (because of going back up and down levels to complete puzzles) full of different types of styles of puzzles for you to solve.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up LOVING Mario Party. My first game in the series was Mario Party 2 for the N64, which provided me with years of fun competing with the neighborhood kids on who could be the true Superstar. In the Gamecube era came more iconic Mario Party games such as Mario Party 4-8. However, while the games remain popular, it seems like most people I know started having issues with the games after Mario Party 6 or 8 and began to fall off of the franchise.

Jack:Sonic is healing. Sonic Frontiers shifted the series away from a relatively stagnant decade of games concerned more with recapturing glory days than creating new ones. While it still kept one foot stuck in the past, the other took a solid step towards the future The next step comes in an unlikely form: a retcon of the game that arguably cemented Sonic’s habitual reminiscing.

For those of you who have been around GamingTrend for a bit know I’m a bit of a Star Wars fan. Jedi Power Battles was one of the first games I ever played on the Original PlayStation! Now, it looks like we’re getting an updated version of the game coming to consoles and PC early next year! Let’s hope the new updates help us all enjoy this lesser-known joy in the Star Wars gaming catalog.

We here at GamingTrend are so pumped for the new SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS game coming soon! I personally had such a blast with the preview for the game I did back at Summer Game Fest. You can read my preview and watch the interview with the creator of Shadow himself, Takashi Iizuka. With Shadow being one of my favorite characters, finding out the SEGA team was releasing animations for the character before the game comes out got be excited even more.
