Clinging to the walls of Black Bird Bookstore and Cafe are some of the works of Richard Sexton, a photographer who captured the colorful streets and scenes of the Outer Sunset in the 1970s. To Supervisor Joel Engardio, it’s all right there — in Sexton’s photographs, such as the one depicting the long-shuttered Doggie Diner, evidence of the unstoppable flow of time and certainty of change.

Recall leaders confidently turned in more than 11,000 signatures to the Department of Elections on Thursday. It’s now in the hands of the Department of Elections to validate signatures and ensure there are more than the 9,911 required for a recall election to be held — a process that can legally take up to 60 days.
