Athlete of the Year Tatum Cramer and Coach of the Year Chris Scanlan lead the 2025 Times Union girls’ outdoor track and field all-star teams. The pair were part of a stellar season for Section II athletes that saw multiple area records fall as four Section II individual athletes and four relay teams claimed state championships. Cramer, a Guilderland senior, turned in an historic double at the state championships, winning both the Class A and Federation titles in the long jump and triple jump.

Athlete of the Year Ryan Buskey and Coach of the Year Lisa Paparone lead the way on the 2025 Times Union boys’ track and field all-star team. The Colonie athlete and coach led a successful season that saw six different Section II athletes win state or Federation championships. Buskey put together an historic campaign in the high jump, equaling the Section II and state record in the event when he cleared 7 feet, 3 inches and won the state title that eluded him in 2024.

Alexander Mogilny, who ended his career as a member of the Albany River Rats after being one of the most prolific goalscorers in the NHL during the 1990s, was one of eight individuals elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Mogilny, 56, will be inducted in Toronto in November alongside Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith, Brianna Decker, Zdeno Chara, Jennifer Botterill, Jack Parker and Daniele Sauvageau.

Stephen Luke went to Cortland earlier this month with the ambitious goal of winning 10 medals in a single Empire State Senior Games cycle. Instead, he secured 11 — and he didn’t even get a chance to compete in some of his best events. A 70-year-old Cambridge native and Troy resident, Luke collected medals in 11 of the 13 events that he competed in – four golds, six silvers and a bronze – between track and field, bowling and badminton.
