Louisville's new Department of Transportation now has a director. Bill Bell was named earlier this week by Mayor Greenberg as the new department's first-ever director. Bell was previously the executive director for the KYTC Office of Highway Safety for 10 years. He said in this new position, he wants to focus on increasing pedestrian safety in the Metro. “The objective is safe mobility,” Bell said.

The Louisville Fire Department is now accepting applications for its next class of recruits. Capt. Donovan Sims with LFD said they hope to take around 30 recruits in the upcoming class. "You don't have to have any prerequisites," Sims said. "So for 26 weeks, you're coming in and you're starting from ground zero as a recruit, and we're going to build you up to a Louisville firefighter."Sims said applying online is the first step.

After the U.S. Department of Justice dropped its consent decree with Louisville, Mayor Craig Greenberg and his staff are still asking the community how they can hold the city and Louisville Metro Police Department accountable. Greenberg announced the new Community Safety Commission on Monday. Its goal is to allow people from across the city to work with officials and hold them accountable. That's the main theme for Greenberg's Safe Louisville Plan, which is the city's self-imposed consent decree.

After a second straight weekend of a massive crowds flooding Bardstown Road near Grinstead Drive, Mayor Craig Greenberg said his administration is not afraid to take action. The mayor, along with LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey, said they plan to talk with business owners and residents along Bardstown Road over the next few days.
