Brent Smith, the current dean of the school of communication, will step into the role of associate vice president for executive education effective July 1, Provost Alexandra Socarides announced in a community-wide email Thursday morning. The new position is part of the executive education program of the “Extraordinary Emerson 2030” initiative. The executive education program is scheduled to begin the spring of 2026.

Election results are in, and junior political communications major Georgia Winn is the next executive president of the Student Government Association. Winn had the highest vote count in the election with 160 votes. Angus Abercrombie, another junior political communications major, will be the next vice president with 141 votes, and Oliver Katz, who is also a junior political communications major, continues on in his current position of executive treasurer.
