Russell Westbrook comes off his 17th NBA season, one in which he served as a solid playmaker for the Denver Nuggets. The UCLA legend underwent surgery on his right hand this week, the Nuggets announced on Tuesday. Westbrook revealed in his "Word of Westbrook" newsletter that he had broken his hand twice this season. "I’m grateful for everyone’s support all year and I can’t wait to be back out there at 100% soon," Westbrook said. "The comeback is already in motion. #WhyNot.

Steven Reynolds III, the No. 1 class of 2026 prospect in Indiana, is being pursued by Michigan State. The four-star guard from South Bend is ranked the No. 11 shooting guard in his class and the No. 63 overall prospect in his class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. With no surprise, the Spartans have some tough competition in their recruiting of Reynolds.

Michigan State has added another important prospect to its list of official visits. Class of 2026 linebacker Adam Shaw announced on social media on Tuesday that he has an official visit to Michigan State set for June 12. The Spartans just offered Shaw, who plays for Pascack Valley High School in New Jersey. His is rated a three-star by 247Sports, which has him ranked the No. 16 class of 2026 recruit in New Jersey and the No. 46 linebacker in his class.

Michigan State's Jase Richardson will likely be hearing his name called in next month's NBA Draft, as it doesn't seem the freshman sensation will be opting to return to Michigan State. Richardson is pursuing the path his father, Jason, a fellow Michigan State Spartan himself, once did. Jason was selected wth the fifth overall pick of the 2001 NBA Draft after spending two seasons in East Lansing and would go on to have along NBA career.

Michigan State football has a different looking schedule this year compared to last. The Spartans won't be facing Ohio State or Oregon and will instead be taking UCLA and USC. They will also face Penn State after not having matched up with the Nittany Lions last season. Annual rivalries -- at least the lesser significant ones -- are becoming a thing of the past. Does this mean somewhere down the road we won't be having annual meetings like in-state rivalries or iconic, longstanding traditions?
