Holy Family Catholic Parish Pastor Gerald Blessing said a new church to replace the damaged Immaculate Conception Church could be completed by the end of 2027. Blessing announced the church-building goal before the April 27 Masses, which have been held in the Parish Center since April 6 due to damage Immaculate Conception Church sustained during the March 14 storm.

The Pasta House restaurant in Arnold, which was damaged by the March 14 storm, is under repair and could reopen by mid-September, franchise owner Alex Dziuba said. He said a new roof was put on the approximately 6,800-square-foot restaurant building at 921 Arnold Commons Drive in mid-April. “It is a long haul for us to reopen,” said Dziuba, 76, of Kirkwood. “We finally got a new membrane on top of the roof. We are good there.

Lone Dell Elementary School will say goodbye to one of its most beloved and furriest staff members at the end of this school year. TJ, a German shepherd who has been a touch therapy dog for students in special education teacher Brett Walters’ class for the past eight years, will retire when the school year ends. The Fox C-6 School District is scheduled to finish the 2024-2025 school year on May 23.

Gov. Mike Kehoe is still hopeful Missouri will receive federal aid to help residents who sustained property damage in the March tornado-producing storm, even though the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied Arkansas’ similar request for assistance. “We think we have a good application,” Kehoe said on April 24 when he was at Arnold City Hall to recognize the city and Jefferson County as the first two communities to earn Blue Shield status.

More than 125 teachers and nurses attended the April 15 Fox C-6 School District Board of Education meeting to show unity as they try to negotiate a new contract with the district. Before the meeting started, some of those teachers and nurses stood near Jeffco Boulevard outside the Fox C-6 Service Center in Arnold, with many holding signs asking for fair wages. Numerous people honked their horns as they drove past the group.
