BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon is discontinuing his third-party bid and dropping out of the mayoral race, the Board of Elections confirmed. Scanlon, who has served as Buffalo’s acting mayor since October, lost the Democratic primary on Tuesday to State Senator Sean Ryan, who had the endorsement of the Erie County Democratic Committee. Ryan won by 11 points, getting 46.4% of the vote as compared to Scanlon’s 35.2%. The margin was more than 3,000 votes.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Town of Tonawanda and its police union have come to an agreement to end a monthslong labor fight, the two sides said Friday. The disagreement is in connection to the town accusing the union that represents officers engaging in a “ticket strike” last winter. The town alleged that officers engaged in the ticket strike for 15 days and there was a significant slow down in tickets handed out during that period.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man has pleaded guilty in connection with a string of burglaries in north Buffalo in 2024 and earlier this year, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Friday. Ryan Klatt, 35, pleaded guilty on Thursday to three counts of third-degree burglary and four counts of third-degree attempted burglary. He admitted to three different burglaries in the same week between Nov. 6 and 13, 2024 at businesses on Elmwood Avenue and Niagara Street.

He made a stop in Buffalo as part of his tour in 2023. He will star in Happy Gilmore 2 in July on Netflix. A presale begins on Thursday at noon and the general ticket sale begins at noon on Friday.
