    The Shadows-on-the-Teche saw 25 artists from across the country come to compete in the Plein Air Quick Draw and Paint Delcambre events this weekend. Saturday afternoon, starting at 3 p.m., artists had two hours to paint a scene in downtown New Iberia. Several artists chose to paint the streets of the district, while many others chose to paint at the Shadows. After a tense session, Missouri-based artist Chris Willey took second place, while California-based artist David Savellano took first.

    The New Iberia Parks and Recreations Department is hosting their annual Festival of Live Oaks 9 a.m. at New Iberia City Park while the second Super Saturday Downtown Shopping event happens downtown at 11 a.m. March 16. The Festival will primarily feature an adult and youth division Barbecue Cook Off as well as live music and a variety of booths aimed toward kids’ entertainment, including sweet and crafts booths, a petting zoo, fun jumps, pony rides, train rides and face painting.

    Over 80 blacksmiths and metal workers attended Louisiana Metalsmith Association’s (LAMA) two-day blacksmithing conference at the Sugar Arena this weekend. Each year, the LAMA blacksmithing convention features a different metalworking demonstrator to share unique ideas on working with metal.

    Larry Moses served nearly 30 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, while Barney Holt was sentenced in life in prison for simple possession. Tuesday night, they told their story at the Innocence Project New Orleans Stand for Justice Acadiana event. The event was aimed to inform the greater Acadiana community about the work IPNO conducts in freeing wrongly-convicted or harshly-punished individuals from prison. It had 30 tables with 280 guests.
