Mayor Freddie DeCourt says this move is critical for the future plans for both the city and parish as a whole. “This is economic development at work,” said Mayor DeCourt. The new ordinance will take five pieces of land along Highway 90. Known as the Hebert property, this move is multiple years in the making.

The previous rainstorms left multiple feet of water and caused people to take refuge in their homes. Some residents today are still stuck in their homes because of drainage issues.

The heavy rainstorm blew through a lot of Acadiana especially in Iberia Parish.

    RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — As a police officer, a fireman, and a role model, Lt. Allen Credeur will be missed by the entire Rayne community and beyond. “He left a really big impact in the community. He was selfless. Definitely a special man. He’s going to be truly missed,” said Claire Senegal, the principle of South Rayne Elementary. On Monday, Lt. Credeur was shot and killed from friendly fire in the line of duty while executing a warrant related to a violent domestic crime.
