    In opening testimony of his trial Tuesday, Stephon Brown’s attorney focused on two key points of evidence used to charge Brown with murder: documents addressed to him found at the shooting scene and the victim’s missing phone. Brown, 24, of New Freedom, is accused of shooting and killing Demetres Lewis while they sat in a car in York City in 2022. He faces counts of first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm as a jury hears the case this week.

    Jesus Cintron-Molina wasn’t perfect. He had his problems and made mistakes, his family said. He was also a generous man, and they said he didn’t deserve to die from an act of gun violence. Cintron-Molina was killed Oct. 3, 2023, during a confrontation with Freddie Luna-Reyes in the middle of a York City street. A jury decided last month that Luna-Reyes, 30, of York City, was guilty of first-degree murder.

    A York City man admitted he helped beat another man to death three years ago, joining two other men who’ve also admitted to their roles in the beatings. Na’Qui Johnson, 22, pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder for his part in the killing of Zachary Young along a York City street in May 2022. Prosecutors dismissed aggravated assault, simple assault and conspiracy charges as part of the plea.
