Organizers and sponsors of the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic have expressed interest in making the tournament a standalone event on the PGA Tour after the initial four-year contract to be an opposite field event expires following the 2027 event. The $4 million tournament has been played in the first full week in May concurrently with the $20 million Wells Fargo Championship and Truist Championship in its first two years.

The Coastal Carolina University softball team will compete in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2012 and first time as a Sun Belt Conference program. The Chanticleers won the Sun Belt tournament Saturday with a 3-2 win over James Madison to earn the conference’s automatic berth, and learned Sunday night they will travel to the Durham (N.C.) Ryan Fox’s chances of winning the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic looked bleak on the first hole of a three-man playoff after he hit his drive in the left rough and his second shot onto the left fringe of The Dunes Golf and Beach Club’s 18th green, about 50 feet from the hole. Harry Higgs was eyeing a 30-foot birdie putt that was very similar to a 25-footer he missed to the right just minutes earlier in regulation, and Mackenzie Hughes had a 12-foot birdie putt.

He finished his collegiate playing career at Clemson in 2017, and following five years on mini-tours and four failed attempts at the Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, he said he was one tournament away from seeking other employment.
