On Saturday, July 26, 1873, the inaugural edition of the Lowestoft Weekly Journal featured a message from Mr. A. Stebbings, written from his office on High Street. He announced that the owners of the People's Weekly Journal, which boasts a circulation in Lowestoft and its surrounding areas that surpasses all other local papers, have decided to rename their publication. Starting today, the weekly journal distributed in the region will be known as The Lowestoft Weekly Journal, aiming to highlight the significance and size of Lowestoft's community.

Appearing at Great Yarmouth Magistrates' Court, Gemma Harbottle, 35, admitted common assault and obstructing a police officer on duty. The court heard that in March, Harbottle was in Mossy's Bar and nightclub in Lowestoft when she "smacked a woman really hard" in the face and "grabbed her hair". John Cooper, prosecuting, said "members of the door staff were trying to pull her off" and "several police officers tried to restrain her".
