On a Sunday this fall, in the Spanish village of Moià, the church bell tolled 12 times, signaling that the midday Roman Catholic Mass was about to start. Dressed up for the occasion, Rosa Bordó made her way past the imposing wooden gates of the Baroque church — just as she has done every weekend for most of her 88 years. The principality of Andorra, located in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France, is one of the smallest, least-populated countries in Europe. "In memory of the women and trans women killed in Puerto Rico and the world," she said. "Never forget."She went on to sing "Mujer," one of the songs on her debut album, "La Sustancia X," from last December, which she has described as the soundtrack of her transition into a woman.

Vanessa Mendoza Cortés, an activist for the decriminalization of abortion in Andorra, has been acquitted of defamation. Last fall, she told me what it's like to live under Europe's toughest abortion ban—and the cost of trying to change it. For @TheWorld https://t.co/3C1VuiwmGK

Of the million ways of describing Villano Antillano, I love this quote from @hastabajoprojct best: "She is the evolution of reggaeton, its future—but at the same time, its purest expression." For @TheWorld https://t.co/kne83TtKm5

To deal with the trauma of war, @Heinali made an album fusing ambient music with old recordings of his life in Kyiv, his home city. "It's a very traumatic album," he told me. "I didn't really want to record it, I just had to record it." For @TheWorld https://t.co/ppWP5Cxk99
