    The retailer has unveiled a radical restructuring plan in a bid to reverse recent heavy losses due to a slump in trading. Bosses blamed the closures on the “migration of shoppers from the high street to online” and higher costs to run stores. The family-owned retailer confirmed it is proposing to close 33 of its 230 stores by January next year as a result. A further 71 stores are also at risk, depending on talks with landlords in order to secure improved rental deals.

The derelict building on High Street was found to be a cannabis farm, with 5000 plants, during a search by officers with a warrant at around 12.40pm on Wednesday.     Officers were called to a report of concern for a man who had been wild swimming at Kilchattan Bay at around 8.10pm on Thursday. He was pronounced dead a short time later. Police said his death is being treated as unexplained and that enquiries are ongoing.     Emergency services attended the 39-year-old, who was then taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Police are appealing for information to help trace a man seen in the area around the time of the incident. He is described as white, mid-30s, around 5ft 11in tall, with a tattoo on his neck, and was seen in the area at the time of the incident.
