The Office of Local Government has revealed Snowy Monaro Councillor Andrew Thaler is under examination for alleged poor conduct. A Performance Improvement Order was issued to the Snowy Monaro Regional Council in February, requiring all 11 councillors to sign. If Mr Thaler is proven to have failed to comply with the PIO, the Office of Local Government can issue a compliance order, potentially leading to suspension.

The body of a missing Canberra fisherman has been found in waters off the NSW far south coast. The 34-year-old man was reportedly swept off rocks into water south of Eden on Friday afternoon. NSW Police have established a crime scene and a report will be prepared for the Coroner. Senior Constable Brett David Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to six counts of assault relating to two incidents in October 2023. Four of the charges stem from allegations he assaulted a woman and three girls inside the Bridge Plaza shopping centre in Batemans Bay. He will face two separate court hearings in September. A New South Wales police officer charged with assaulting five teenagers and a woman while on duty in 2023 remains suspended with pay and will face court later this year.

The family of a Melbourne bushwalker, missing in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains for over a week, is calling for more resources to help find the 24-year-old. Hadi Nazari went hiking with two friends in Kosciuszko National Park on December 22 and was due to return home five days later. The experienced hiker was separated from the group when he went to take photographs near the Hannels Spur Trail at Geehi.

Police have confirmed several items found in rugged bushland belong to missing hiker Hadi Nazari. The Melbourne man's friends and family say the discovery gives them new hope that he will be found. Further specialist teams have been sent to Kosciuszko National Park to help expand the search, which is now in its eighth day.
