More than 1,000 workers walked off the job on the multi-billion dollar pumped hydro energy project on Wednesday. The AWU says it is looking at legal action over claims Snowy 2.0 workers were locked down during the strike action. The AWU says industrial action will continue next week if the wages issue is not resolved. The Australian Workers Union is threatening legal action over the alleged treatment by Snowy 2.0 contractors of striking tunnel workers.

A coroner has recommended that police must find that there is no risk to public safety before they begin a pursuit, as part of her findings into the death of a Canberra man in 2021. Harri Jokinen was killed in a head-on collision with a stolen Holden Commodore that reached speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour during a police pursuit.

The New South Wales government will suspend a Snowy Mountains councillor without pay and order him to apologise for alleged breaches of conduct. The Office of Local Government has suspended Andrew Thaler from office for three months from May 14. In scathing orders signed by the department's deputy secretary, Brett Whitworth, Cr Thaler has been instructed to apologise to individuals affected by his alleged "offensive behaviour and intimidating online comments".

The Office of Local Government has revealed Snowy Monaro Councillor Andrew Thaler is under examination for alleged poor conduct. A Performance Improvement Order was issued to the Snowy Monaro Regional Council in February, requiring all 11 councillors to sign. If Mr Thaler is proven to have failed to comply with the PIO, the Office of Local Government can issue a compliance order, potentially leading to suspension.

The body of a missing Canberra fisherman has been found in waters off the NSW far south coast. The 34-year-old man was reportedly swept off rocks into water south of Eden on Friday afternoon.
