The state's biggest sporting event returns later this month. The M&T Bank Vermont City Marathon & Relay is slated for its 34th Memorial Day weekend, and 35th edition overall, in Burlington. Over 4,600 racers, from marathoners, relay teams and handcyclists, will navigate through the streets of the Queen City on Sunday, May 25. The race starts and finishes at Waterfront Park. Jackson Skipper is returning to Vermont basketball. The former Catamount — who left Burlington to play at Oral Roberts this past winter — is transferring back to Vermont, The Athletic's Tobias Bass reported on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, on Monday afternoon. Skipper also announced his commitment to Vermont on social media.

Vermont native Graham Walker's bid to make an NFL roster has brought him to familiar territory. Walker is currently participating at the rookie minicamp tryout for the Kansas City Chiefs, home to his famous half-brother, Patrick Mahomes, the superstar quarterback and three-time Super Bowl MVP. A former Champlain Valley Union High School standout, Walker is one of 60 players hoping to land a contract with the Chiefs during their minicamp, which opened Saturday, May 3 and wraps on Monday, May 5.
