By talking with coaches and media colleagues we hope to compile a group that spotlights the very best the state has to offer on the ice. As always, the job of trimming the list down to a first and second team, plus a cast of honorable mentions, is never easy. At the end of the day it remains a subjective process, but one we undertake with great pride and care.

Two months into his stay at Mount St. Charles Academy in Rhode Island, Lucas Van Mullen realized he longed for what he left behind at South Burlington High School. "There's a reason I love hockey so much," Van Mullen said, "and it was because of people like (coach Sean Jones) and my teammates.

Michaels, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in his freshman season at Buffalo. Both Michaels and Yalden have three years of eligibility remaining. Michaels, a 6-foot-8 freshman, earned MAC all-freshman team honors this past season. For the second time this week, Vermont basketball has secured a key frontcourt piece for its future via the transfer portal.
