The Valkyries are on the cusp of tipping off their inaugural season in the WNBA. “We’re delighted at the opportunity to help Valkyries fans travel across the Bay to cheer on this exciting new team,” said Jim Wunderman, Chair of SF Bay Ferry’s Board of Directors.

Last month, Uber reportedly told employees they would be upping the number of days required to be in the office from two to three. Uber also reportedly changed the eligibility for its monthlong sabbatical program from five years to eight years.
Elderly man dies after vehicle goes into the water near Sears Point

(KRON) — An elderly man died Thursday morning when his vehicle went off the roadway on Highway 37 in Marin County and wound up in the water. The solo vehicle crash occurred near Sears Point, just east of Highway 121, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP log indicates the vehicle went into the water around 10:35 a.m. About 15 minutes later, by 10:52 a.m., it was almost completely submerged. A tow request for a 100-foot cable was submitted and then canceled.

(KRON) — To quote a different band from a similar era, “this could be the last time.” On Thursday, The Who announced they would be embarking on a final tour of U.S. and Canada, some 43 years on from the band’s original “Farewell Tour.”That long-ago 1982 “farewell” failed to take, and by the ’90s, they were back at it. Original Who drummer, Keith Moon, who famously passed out at a San Francisco show in the ’70s and was temporarily replaced by an audience member, died in 1978.

SFMOMA abruptly cuts 29 jobs

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art abruptly laid off 29 people Wednesday, according to a letter on the museum website from SFMOMA Director Christopher Bedford. The layoffs, according to Bedford, account for about 7.5% of SFMOMA’s workforce. Twenty full-time workers and nine part-time employees lost their jobs, with the cuts impacting both union and non-union staff, Bedford said. The museum also cut 13 positions that were vacant or that will no longer be back filled.
