Plans for a “high-end” glamping site have been revealed as the landowners look to capitalise on the growing popularity of this kind of staycation. Harwinder Binning has applied for permission to install seven pods and retreats, and four barrel saunas with cold plunge at East Court Farm, in Chalk, near Gravesend. The proposed scheme also includes external decking areas, footpaths, parking, cycle storage, vehicular track, landscaping and recycling, and refuse storage.

Around £100,000 has been secured to improve the safety of one of the county’s “most dangerous” junctions amid fears more people could be killed. Kent County Council (KCC) has received funding from the government to design a scheme for Shorne Crossroads, near Gravesend. Last year, more than 1,200 people signed a petition to improve the safety of the junction after an elderly man died following a crash a few months before.

They did not even know if they would be able to access it; however, when they arrived, it was open with a set of concrete stairs leading the way down.

Everyone Active said customers also said that they would like such a facility and believe building one would increase memberships by 317 new users, attract a wider demographic and generate more income.

Councillors have decided to lease a former landfill site so it can become a solar farm in what has been described as an “exciting project”. The brownfield land off Otford Road, in Sevenoaks, would generate electricity for South East Water. It would be connected to and power its nearby water treatment works. The utility firm states it needs solar power to meet its carbon reduction target of net zero by 2030, and its site in Crampton’s Road is not big enough to accommodate the equipment needed.
