SAN FRANCISCO -- Kyle Harrison has made 107 appearances in the minors and majors since the Giants took him in the third round of the 2020 draft, and up until Tuesday night, every single one had come as a starter. For a few minutes, it looked like Harrison would be asked to get a save in his first professional relief appearance, but as he warmed up at Wrigley Field, the Giants had a historic nine-run rally.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Late Tuesday night, the Giants were a hit away from losing a series in excruciating fashion. From that point on, they outscored the powerful Chicago Cubs 12-1 and clinched a series win of their own. Robbie Ray kept his winning streak going to start the year, and the Giants gave him just enough early support, winning 3-1 to take a second straight at Wrigley Field.

Ryan Walker couldn't close out what would have been Verlander's first win as a Giant -- and 263rd in the big leagues -- but the Giants got the game to the 11th and then broke through with nine runs (seriously) in the 11th inning.

BOX SCORESAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants started their season in Cincinnati and already have visited the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels and Houston Astros, but when it comes to scheduling, they have nothing on the Chicago Cubs. Monday's game was Chicago's 21st against the National League West, easily the most games any team has played against one division this year.
