TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Marana father charged with first-degree murder for the hot car death of his 2-year-old daughter appeared in court Thursday, Aug. 8. Christopher Scholtes, 37, also faces a charge of child abuse and entered a not-guilty plea in court. The judge scheduled a case management hearing for next month, and a pretrial hearing for October.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) - A medical examiner in Arizona has released the autopsy report for a 2-year-old girl who died earlier this month in a Tucson neighborhood after being left inside a hot car. The autopsy report showed the girl had a body temperature of 108.9 degrees Fahrenheit per emergency medical workers who found her unresponsive on July 9. The medical examiner ruled the girl’s cause of death to be environmental heat exposure with her manner of death ruled an accident.
