Dear Editor, This article highlights the importance of holistic, person-centred care in the context of addiction. In England, there are over 600 thousand people experiencing alcohol dependence, and 82% of them are not receiving treatment(1-2). In our view, patients living with addiction – including alcohol-related addictions - may benefit from health coaching during their journey of overcoming addiction.

Guelph police are investigating after a man was hurt in a stabbing outside of his home Sunday night.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., police were called to a property near Eramosa Road and Speedvale Avenue East.
The caller advised two males attacked her 25-year-old son when he went outside to speak to them.
Police say the victim had lacerations to his abdomen and arm and was taken to a Hamilton trauma centre. He has been treated and released since.

A man has been charged after police say he set a business on fire in Guelph.
On May 24th around 4:45 p.m., police said a man went into a business near Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South in Guelph.
Police said the man was upset over a previous experience at the business and dumped gasoline on the carpeted area of the lobby and set it on fire.
They said the flames reached up to the ceiling.
Everyone inside the business was able to safely leave through the back door.

Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating a serious crash involving a cyclist in Kitchener.
Emergency crews responded to reports of a collision between a Ford vehicle and cyclist in the area of Courtland Avenue East and Cedar Street South around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
The cyclist, a 23-year-old Kitchener man, was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford was not hurt.

A Kitchener man has been arrested after police say he was involved in a hit-and-run crash that sent a pregnant woman to hospital.
Just after 1 a.m. on April 6, Guelph police were called to Guelph General Hospital where they spoke to a woman who was seven months pregnant and sought medical attention after a crash.
About thirty minutes before, police say she was stopped at a red light at Gordon Street and Fountain Street when her vehicle was rear-ended by a white SUV.

KidsAbility hosted an official grand opening of its new Kitchener location on Tuesday.
The relocation to 4273 King St. E. Unit B is home to 26,000 square feet of space, which doubles their previous Hanson Avenue location.
In a news release, the organization says it will help lead them in providing pediatric care for the next generation.
It comes as KidsAbility says they have seen a 113 per cent increase in client demand in Kitchener over the last 10 years.

Guelph police are investigating after someone spat on an employee at a downtown business.
It happened Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m.
Police say the employee saw a male inside the business who was banned.
The employee approached the male and asked him to leave.
As they were talking towards the exit together, the male turned and spat on the employee’s arm and pants.
Police say the accused knows the victim and has not been located yet.

Guelph police are investigating after more than $10,000 worth of metal products were stolen from a business in the east-end.
On Tuesday morning, staff at a business near Watson Road South and Airpark Place called to report two separate thefts in recent days, where 875 steel hoops were stolen from outside of the business.
Surveillance video showed three suspects arriving just after 3 p.m Saturday in a maroon four-door Food F350 which had a wooden pallet in place of the tailgate.
