A group of 53 Catholics from various parishes across Northwest Ohio, including St. John XXII in Perrysburg, planned a trip to Rome roughly a year ago.     TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - As Catholics from around the world were watching the white smoke pour out of the chimney in the Vatican, students in Toledo were watching via live stream in their classroom. St. Francis De Sales students have been learning about the conclave for the last week and a half in Mr. Eighinger’s senior theology class. He said the lessons started when they got back from Easter break. This was right after Pope Francis’ death.

    LUCKEY, Ohio (WTVG) - Ohio Environmental Protection Agency members are on the ground in the Village of Luckey Wednesday taking water samples following testing from the Toledo Blade that found higher-than-normal radioactivity levels at three different locations. The Army Corps of Engineers has been removing tons of contaminated soil from the Cold War-era beryllium production facility site since 2018, long maintaining the residential areas were not affected.

    TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Classrooms and hallways are still full of students learning at Edgewater Elementary, but come this fall, that won’t be the case. That’s because TPS is closing the school for renovation and merging the students with Ottawa River Elementary. The decision to shut down Edgewater for the time being is to repurpose the building and eventually restructure the schools in Point Place completely.

    TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Honoring the leaders of their graduating class. TPS held its annual Celebration of Excellence Dinner, Tuesday to reward the top students and scholarship recipients of the class of 2025. This year’s ceremony was a little different and came with a big surprise for two students. That surprise was a check for $5,000 to put toward their college as they prepare to educate future generations.
