That's presented a problem for rural schools with limited resources. But a community in south Texas has figured out a solution: five schools across four counties in several different school districts have teamed up to share speciality opportunities among students.

The youngest of eight — seven boys and one girl, with one brother living elsewhere — to a single mother, Cruz knew he had to help his family to heat their home. They were poor, but the land provided.

Virginia county sees spike in AI data centers You'd be hard pressed to find a pothole in Loudoun County, Virginia. The roads are freshly paved and the schools are new — all paid for by tax revenue from the 200 or so oversized buildings in the county known as data centers. "It has completely changed our economy from a failing economy to one of the strongest local economies anywhere in the country," said Buddy Rizer, the county's economic development director.

For 14-year-old Ben Cohen-Vigder, accidentally losing his smartphone on the school bus last February ended up gaining him so much more. "I was without my phone for like two days and I realized how my days were so much longer and full," Ben said. It was so much better that the 8th grade lacrosse goalie made the radical choice to get a flip phone, giving him the ability to communicate without all the smart features — and distractions.
