    On Thursday The Arena League announced they have suspended Duluth Harbor Monsters head coach Tony O’Neil for two games. O’Neil is also receiving a fine for what the league called “conduct deemed detrimental to both the Harbor Monsters and The Arena League”. He will be eligible to return June 21st for their away game with the Eau Claire Axemen.

    Once again the Section 7AAA baseball crown has gone to Grand Rapids. On Wednesday the No. 1 Thunderhawks defeated No. 5 Hermantown 12-2 in six innings in the championship game held in Hibbing. The Thunderhawks were led by Klous Jones with three hits, three runs and four RBI. Kaden Sweeney added three hits, two runs and two RBI, and Caleb Gunderson recorded two hits, two runs, and two RBI. Grand Rapids’ pitcher Sam Dick had zero errors while allowing just five hits.

    The PWHL’s new Vancouver franchise went defense first by landing the two-time defending champion Minnesota Frost’s blue-line duo of Claire Thompson and Sophie Jaques to start the league’s expansion signing period on Wednesday. The Frost teammates were among the league’s top-scoring defensemen. Thompson, Jaques and Toronto’s Renata Fast were the finalists for the defender of the year honor, and the Minnesota pair represented Canada at the world championships in April.
