Police identify woman killed in crash on Route 302 in Westbrook

WESTBROOK (WGME) – The Westbrook Police Department has identified the woman who was killed in a crash on Route 302 Friday. Police say around 2:30 p.m., they were called to Route 302 in Westbrook, near the Windham town line, for a report of a three-vehicle crash with serious injury. When they showed up, they found 28-year-old Tatiana Morrell of Windham dead at the scene.

PORTLAND (WGME) -- The Maine Audubon is looking for your help with their annual loon count. The count will take place on July 20 from 7-7:30 a.m.It's been happening on the third Saturday of July for exactly 40 years now. The count reveals a lot more than just the size of the loon population. “So loons need clean, clear water in order to really thrive, and so we know that if there are loons on a lake, likely that water is going to be great," Maine Audubon Community Science Manager Hannah Young said.

Senator Susan Collins joined a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning for the new Auburn Police Activities League, or "PAL," Center. It will replace the current center on Chestnut Street.

Surrounded by art from Ukrainian artists, Solodko, a Ukrainian bakery based in Boston, and Kavka, a coffee roaster in Camden, teamed up to create a pop-up Ukrainian coffee shop at Munka Gallery on Lisbon Street. The coffee is inspired by Ukrainian blends, and the pastries are meant to look as good as they taste.

LIMERICK (WGME) -- With the ceremonial "uncoupling of a hose," Limerick's new fire station is officially open. The town held a dedication ceremony and open house Friday afternoon for its new fire and EMS station. The fire chief says the new station was badly needed because the last one wasn't handicap accessible for the public and wasn't big enough for today's equipment and trucks. "We have a diesel exhaust removal system,” Limerick Fire Chief Vincent Pelletier said.

"It's often cheaper to repair the gear than to replace it,” Maine Gear Share Advancement Manager Emily Mackeown said.
