    FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — During Tuesday night’s Fairmont City Council meeting, a public hearing was held, followed by the second and final reading of an ordinance concerning the establishment and regulation of Private Outdoor Designated Areas (PODAs) within the city limits. Following the hearing, the council unanimously approved the ordinance, which will allow local businesses to apply for a special license from the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Commissioner.

    FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The 46th Annual Three Rivers Festival ushered in its second evening of festivities Friday night with the grand opening of its carnival at Palatine Park in Fairmont. Festival-goers enjoyed a variety of carnival rides and indulged in a wide selection of food from numerous vendors, offering treats such as ice-cold lemonade, warm pretzels, cotton candy and candy apples. Live musical performances are also set to take place on the park’s stage throughout the event.

Alexa Snyder has been selected to perform with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band, a prestigious ensemble made up of top student musicians from across the country. She is the first-ever student from Webster County High School to earn a spot in the nationally televised event.
