HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va (WTRF) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources investigated a local property after reports alleged there was “a possible case of illegal wildlife possession.” The story of a wild deer who enjoys the company of people has been causing a lot of controversy in Hancock County this week. The deer, named Bucky, is beloved in the community and is often seen visiting The White Stallion Club, a local bar in Chester, W.Va., and surrounding homes.

(WTRF) – A Weirton man accused of murdering his girlfriend appeared in Hancock County Circuit Court Thursday morning where his case was set for trial. Jordan Prager was arrested last September after allegedly killing his girlfriend, Taylor Albert, on Sept. 28, 2024.

WEIRTON, W.Va. (WTRF) – Weirton officials and city council members met for a workshop Wednesday where they began discussing the long-term future of the city. Topics included how to promote, develop, market and beautify the region. Engineering and Consulting firm, Mackin, is helping the city form a strategic plan. The workshop was conducted to help create a vision, set goals, facilitate engagement and provide tips on how to evaluate progress.

WEIRTON, W.Va. (WTRF) – Weirton city council recently approved a bid for a major paving and milling project that will upgrade around 60 city streets. The total cost of the project is around $1.5 million and will come out of the city’s general fund. City Manager Mike Adams says they have the ability to do some of the work in-house, but for a project of this size, they need a company who has all the necessary resources.
