LE MARS — The Le Mars Community baseball team hosted Sioux City North for a Missouri River Activities Conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The Bulldogs led for part of Game 1, but ended up falling by a 7-4 final score. North scored a run in the top of the first inning, but the Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the inning. Brett McInnis drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the score. Keegan Gengler gave the Bulldogs the lead with an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

AKRON — The Akron-Westfield softball team won 6-1 over Harris-Lake Park in War Eagle Conference action at Bob Tucker Field on Monday. Tied 1-1 after two innings, the Class 1A No. 14 Westerners scored three runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth to pick up a win in a weather-shortened game. Brylie Johnson and Lainey Schuknecht both drove in a pair of runs for the Westerners. Schuknecht had a single and double as she finished 2-for-2 with a sacrifice.

REMSEN — The Remsen St. Mary’s softball team won 10-0 in four innings on Monday in War Eagle Conference action at Sunrise Park. RSM jumped out to an 8-0 lead after an inning and scored two runs in the fourth inning to end the game early. Hallie Bunkers opened the scoring with an RBI triple and she came home on a base hit from Josie Schwickerath. The next run scored on an error while Brielle Schorg hit an RBI single and Chloe Homan got a two-run double to stretch the lead to 6-0.

LE MARS — The Le Mars Community softball team struck early against Sioux City North on Tuesday afternoon in Missouri River Activities Conference action, but it was lightning striking late as the doubleheader wasn’t able to be completed. The Bulldogs did take Game 1 by a 7-4 score. Leading off the batting order for the team in the bottom of the first inning was Natalie Vanderloo, who hit a home run to put the Bulldogs in front.

LE MARS — The Gehlen Catholic baseball team won 11-5 over Trinity Christian in War Eagle Conference action Monday at the Riverview Complex. Tied 5-5 after five innings, the Jays scored six runs in the sixth inning to pull away for the win. Brayden Horkey led the Jays with a 3-for-3 game at the plate as he hit three singles and also reached via walk. He drove in four runs. Mason Small and Dane Lehman both had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.
