Des Moines, Iowa — Flags in Iowa will be at half-staff on Monday to honor the memory of a World War II sailor from Milford. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, September 9, 2024, to honor fallen Navy Fireman 1st Class Everett C. Titterington who was killed at Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was from Milford and will be buried in Riverside National Cemetery in California.

Hawarden, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help to try to solve a case involving the theft of copper. According to the sheriff’s office, they investigated a theft complaint that occurred at a business north of Hawarden on Thursday. Upon further investigation, deputies believe someone stole copper wire and scrap copper from a large metal cargo container located at the rear of the business property by cutting a lock on the container.
