Hancock County supervisors unanimously passed and adopted the county’s proposed fiscal year 2025-2026 budget, without changes, at their April 14 meeting. With $18.594 million in total revenues and $19.439 million in total expenses, a July 1, 2025, beginning fund balance of $7.067 million is projected at $6.223 million for an ending balance on July 1, 2026. The proposed budget was published in the April 1, 2025, Summit-Tribune and April 2, 2025, Leader, which are the official county newspapers.

Forest City community members helped FCHS students culminate their 2025 “Great Gatsby Masquerade” prom grand march, dance, and after-prom party on Saturday night. Planning and preparations started last fall, according to Liz Gann. The Forest City schools' district office administrative assistant is a junior class parent (of Silas Gann) that served with other junior parents on a core committee.

Hancock County supervisors approved the secondary roads department fiscal year 2026 five-year program for roads and bridges on April 14. In 2026, scheduled projects will be highlighted by $1.5 million hot mix asphalt paving of County Roads B36 and R70 from Garner to Highway 18 ($2.25 million) as well as old Highway 18 and 250th Street from County Road R70 to the Cerro Gordo County line ($1.5 million). The more expensive project will address cracks and add four inches of new paving.
