Gainesville, Texas -- Another exciting season of playoff baseball for the Dodd City Hornets came to an end in a three-run loss to the Bryson Cowboys in the area round. Neither team could light up the scoreboard in the first two innings. Bryson broke the scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, but Dodd City responded with two runs in the top of the fourth frame to make it a 2-2 game.

Clayton Homes' first home was completed at the Bonham plant May 5, 1995. On May 5, 2025, Clayton Homes celebrated 30 years of business in Bonham and the completion of its 40,000th home.

Bonham, Texas - There will be two new faces on Bonham City Council as a result of the municipal election May 3, 2025. In the race to represent Ward 3 on Bonham City Council, Clark Smith garnered 197 votes and Jade Custer had 97 votes. There will also be a change in Ward 2, where the incumbent, Tim La Vergne II, has served his two-term limit for city council and has termed out. Sam Fox was the sole candidate to replace La Vergne in Ward 2.

Runs came in bunches for the Ector Eagles as they defeated the Saltillo Lions, 11-1, in five innings in bi-district action on Friday. The Eagles didn't waste any time, scoring four runs in the first inning. Saltillo scored its only run of the contest in the second inning to make the score 4-1. Ector put the game away with five runs in the fourth frame and then closed the door on Saltillo with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to earn a decisive 11-1 victory.

Commerce, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets and the Sulphur Bluff Bears split the first two games of their bi-district battle, setting up a deciding game three on Friday and this one was a nail-biter. The first three innings were a scoreless pitchers' duel between Dodd City's Gavin Shindler and Sulphur Bluff's Trey Tully. Dodd City got to Tully for three runs in the top of the fourth and Sulphur Bluff got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom half of the frame.

Commerce, Texas -- The Dodd City Hornets and the Sulphur Bluff Bears will be back on the baseball diamond Friday at 5:00 p.m. in Commerce after splitting the first two games of this bi-district series. Dodd City dominated game one, 10-2, with Gavin Shindler going 2-for-3, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Weldon Garner and Cash Crossland both went 2-for-4 and both drove in a pair of runs. Brody Lappin, Shindler and Crossland all scored twice.

The Ector Lady Eagles are headed to the regional semifinals after sweeping Munday in the area round. In the series opener, Ector's Audrey Arie struck out 10 and only gave up three hits to keep Munday's bats in check. The Lady Eagles were equally impressive at the plate, pounding out nine hits to overpower Munday, 9-1, in game one. Adalynn Dederick went 3-for-4 with one RBI and scored once. Alana Mackey was 2-for-4, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice.
