There were $40.2 billion in Kentucky-made exports sent all over the world in 2023. In Kentucky, there are over 6,000 manufacturing-related facilities, employing more than 260,000 people. There were $40.2 billion in Kentucky-made exports sent all over the world in 2023. According to the National Association of Manufacturers, the manufacturing workforce in Kentucky is approximately 15% of the state workforce, making it fifth nationally in the percentage of workers in the field.

Behind some of Louisville’s iconic buildings are some of Louisville’s architects. Louisville’s architectural firms create lasting impressions with their work — not only locally but around the country. In the March 28-April 4 edition of Louisville Business First, we published the annual Architecture Firms List. There are 16 firms on the print version of this year’s list. And the online version of this ranking expands to include even more.

From paper routes, retail, babysitting and much more, our Most Admired CEO honorees learned the value of hard work early. My first paying job was at the Kentucky Exposition Center during the 1991 Kentucky State Fair. I worked in the exposition sales department where I handled customer service for the vendors at the fair. I learned about customer service, cash handling and how much I loved the spiral-cut potatoes with malt vinegar.
