J.M. Smucker has announced plans to shutter the longstanding Hostess plant on the east side of Indianapolis by early 2026, a move that is expected to put hundreds of local workers out of a job. Since 1957, workers at the east side plant have baked beloved products, beginning with Wonder Bread and later expanding to other Hostess baked goods, like the iconic Twinkies cakes and Donettes mini donuts.

Looking for a new ride to the Indy 500? Next year, you could take as short as a six-minute flight to the track and land right in the middle of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Sweet Helicopters will transport nearly 500 people by helicopter to the track on May 25 in an annual offering for those who want to beat the ground traffic to the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500.
