New Year’s Eve revellers can hop on a Squamish bus for free on Dec. 31. B.C. transit announced that local buses will be free for the evening starting at 8 p.m. with an extended weekday schedule. (See more here.) Meanwhile, if you’re heading down the highway to Whistler you can expect free transit all day, compliments of the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Extra buses may be added as well, according to a release.

Bylaw officers were onsite at a small encampment of RVs and vehicles on District-owned land in downtown Squamish on Thursday, Dec. 5. The District of Squamish issued notice to the vehicle owners adjacent to 1400 Vancouver Street with a letter on Nov. 25 informing them they were not permitted to park or store their vehicle on the property. While it said they had until Dec. 5 to remove their vehicles and belongings, the vehicles were not towed that day.

We have a new Christmas wreath hanging on our door this holiday season. It's cut out of cardboard and has gobs of white glue securing foraged ferns, dried leaves and clipped twigs to it. Sea to Sky Singers want you to hear the bells this holiday season. The adult community choir is hosting two shows—titled Hear the Bells—featuring handbell soloist Nikki Evans on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15. “Handbells have always fascinated me,” said Veronica McPhee, music director for the group, in a release. “They’re more commonly played as choirs with different people playing one to three bells each.
