Local Motorcycle Club ride to welcome home a young Snyder boy

he community is invited to gather together to help welcome home a young boy from Snyder, on Saturday, March 22. The Norseman MC will be leading the way, from the Coahoma Football Field. According to Justin Edwards, organizer and Norseman MC member, those wanting to take part are to meet at the Coahoma Football Field at 1 p.m. The group will take off about 1:30 p.m. to make it to the parade on time. Motorcycles, cars, trucks and the like are welcome to join.

The 2024 Man and Woman of the Year were announced during the annual Big Spring Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the newest set of 5 Under 55 recipients. The 2024 Man of the Year is Mark Morgan and the Woman of the Year is Sheila Abusaab.

Christmas was for the dogs this past Saturday. The 2nd annual Santa Paws Pet Parade - sponsored by Star Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Big Spring and Star Ford Big Spring - took place in front of the Howard County Courthouse, on Saturday afternoon. “What an amazing and fun day! Puppies everywhere! It makes my heart so full to see so many people show up to support the Big Spring Animal Shelter,” Tabitha Clark, event organizer said.

The day may have begun with a little rain and cold temperatures, but the night ended with a lighted Big Spring Christmas Parade and an opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. For the fifth year in a row, Bob Stapp and his volunteers organized a successful parade with 58 entries. “I am very proud of this year’s parade. Shoppers had an opportunity to travel to 12 different businesses to find unique, locally made gift ideas for this holiday season. Several of the businesses in Downtown Main Street are celebrating their anniversary this month.

A community gathered around a Christmas tree, on a chilly December evening, counting down to the official tree lighting is what Hallmark movies are made out of. Big Spring residents had an opportunity to experience their own little bit of Hallmark magic Sunday evening at the Flip the Switch event, hosted at the Historic Spring. Community members began gathering around the Historic Spring, at the F. Marie Hall Plaza, around 5:30 and were treated to holiday music from The Big Spring Pride Drive.
Mahan presented with ‘Quilt of Valor’ at Texas Retired Teacher Association meeting

The choice to serve one’s nation is ever deserving of recognition. During a recent meeting of the Texas Retired Teacher Association, a special Quilt of Valor presentation was made to Master Sergeant Darrell Mahan. Mahan served in the United States Air Force from 1984 to 2001. As part of his service, he traveled the world and loaded bombs for a living. The quilt presentation was made a little sweeter, knowing that his mother made quilts and donated them all over the world.
