First-of-a-kind mental health treatment center to open in Claremore

CLAREMORE, Okla. — A new first-of-a-kind mental health treatment center is opening in Claremore. The community can get its first look at the center at an open house on Nov. 9. Grand Mental Health is partnering with the Department of Mental Health to open a facility for children and their families. The goal is to keep families close to home while also getting the mental health care needed. The Family Treatment Center is near Industrial Blvd. and Lowry Rd.It's not open just yet, but it will be soon.
Tulsa offering city hall services off-site on Nov. 8

TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa is making access to some services easier during what leaders are calling "City Hall on the Go."It's a one-day event happening Nov. 8 at the Route 66 Historical Village. City Hall on the Go is a national model that the city said many other cities have adopted, and they thought it would be perfect to help make Tulsa more welcoming. This will be the second time the city is doing it after launching the idea in November last year.
Bristow reconsidering sales tax language funding hospital and pool

BRISTOW, Okla. — Bristow city leaders will vote on a resolution and ordinance Monday to change the language of a sales tax, approved by voters in 2021, and bring the language change back to voters. Nov. 6 marks one year, ten months, and six days since the Bristow hospital closed. Now, residents are wondering where their tax money for the hospital is going. This all started in 2021 when voters approved a penny sales tax.

New technology at Hillcrest Medical Center transforms breast cancer surgery

TULSA, Okla. — Breast cancer surgery can be painful and invasive, but with new technology at Hillcrest Medical Center, patients are feeling better about removing the disease. To remove breast cancer, surgeons previously used wired localization. "They would insert a wire into the breast, usually about 10 -12 inches long," Dr. Clint Merritt, a breast surgical oncologist at Hillcrest, explained.
State parks observe World Mental Health Day

TULSA, Okla. — This weekend the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services along with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department are encouraging people to focus on their mental health. The two departments are hosting an event this Saturday known as World Mental Health Day in the Parks. The goal is to encourage people to reconnect with nature and prioritize their mental well-being. It happening at Lake Thunderbird State Park and Keystone State Park.

TULSA, Okla. — One Tulsa business owner is thrilled to see her business take off after a video of hers went viral on TikTok. Cays Curls is a small, locally owned online business. It launched at the start of this year and only took six months to take flight. Macayla DeJear is the owner of Cays Curls. The business, which is run out of her home in Tulsa, helps those with curly hair learn about their hair type, how to maintain it, how to style it, and the correct products for it.

TULSA, Okla. — The Oct. 10 special election results are in. Of the ten propositions up for a vote in northeast Oklahoma, eight passed, and two failed. Catoosa Public SchoolsThis is the second time this school district has gone out of this elementary school bond after it failed to pass in February, and it seems the second time's the charm as voters approved it, with 62.28% voting yes and 37.72% voting no.

This event will be filled with activities, music performances, vendors, food, and most of all, a parade. This is an important celebration because as the city says Tulsa is home to about 30,000 Native Americans. This year's celebration theme is Weaving a Legacy.
