Ovenbird Bakery is expanding again. The bake shop and cafe with roots in Little Italy and a second location in Highlandtown is headed next to North Baltimore. Owner Keiller Kyle confirmed Monday that a third Ovenbird store will open at the Rotunda shopping center in Hampden this summer.

When Morgaine Brunn launched Charlsie's Bakehouse at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the bakery business was a buffer against an uncertain time.Five years later, she's packing up the pie pans and rolling pins to focus on another new life chapter. Brunn said Tuesday that she plans to close Charlsie's, her Catonsville bakeshop, on Memorial Day after five years in business and nearly three years in the storefront at 706 Frederick Road.

Let’s start the day with some wholesome news: The University of Maryland, College Park has announced this spring’s commencement speaker will be none other than Kermit the Frog. The Muppet is scheduled to give the commencement address to the university’s summer 2024, fall 2024 and spring 2025 graduates at SECU Stadium on May 21, UMD President Darryll J. Pines said Wednesday.
