McNear Elementary School joined an elite group this week, becoming one of only five schools in the state to receive a 2025 California Green Ribbon Schools award. The award, which honors the school’s commitment to the environment, was announced Tuesday by Tony Thurmond, state superintendent of public instruction. Only 29 schools, seven school districts, and three county offices of education in California were honored with the award, Thurmond said.
