ST. CHARLES, IL — No one was injured in a fire in St. Charles Wednesday afternoon. The St. Charles Fire Department responded to the blaze in the building at 975 N. 5th Avenue at about 3:40 p.m., according to a news release from the fire department. Firefighters found the blaze on a cooktop in the main kitchen. No one was injured in the blaze and the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β The Lake County Coroner's Office has not yet released the identification of a 72-year-old woman killed in the house fire in Gurnee earlier in the week. On Thursday, the coroner's office reported it was still working to search for relatives of the woman before publicly releasing her identity, according to a news release. An autopsy on Wednesday shows the woman died from smoke inhalation, according to preliminary results.

KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Health Department is looking to educate the public on its 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 25, the health department will host a drive-thru pickup event in the Kane County Circuit Clerk parking lot, 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles, according to a news release from the health department.

WOODSTOCK, IL — No one was injured in a blaze that started at a manufacturing plant near Woodstock Tuesday night. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the fire at Vorteq Coil Finishers, at 15920 Nelson Road in unincorporated Woodstock, at about 7:40 p.m., according to a news release from the fire/rescue district. An initial 911 call was placed by an employee inside the plant regarding a "visible fire" and smoke that was filling the facility.
