MCHENRY, IL — A 44-year-old McHenry man accused of burglarizing homes in McHenry is in custody following a massive police response and hours-long standoff Thursday, police said. Patrick J. Anderson, 44, of the 3400 block of Venice Avenue in McHenry, was arrested and charged with two counts of residential burglary, obstructing justice, resisting a police officer and criminal damage to property, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.

ST. CHARLES, IL — A 27-year-old South Elgin man is in custody after he showed up at his former place of employment with a gun on Tuesday night, according to authorities. Cameron Kerr was asked by former co-workers to leave Alley 64 after he came into the business at 212 West Main Street in St. Charles at about 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday and displayed a gun to staff members, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A batch of mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to McHenry County Department of Health officials. The health department confirmed that a mosquito pool collected from Lake in the Hills on Monday is the first batch of mosquitoes to test positive for the virus so far this year. Meanwhile, no human cases of the virus have been reported in the county, yet, in 2025.
