A deadly chain-reaction crash claimed the life of a North Dakota woman Wednesday evening in a four-vehicle collision just outside the Twin Cities, authorities report. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. on eastbound Interstate 94 in Monticello. All four vehicles involved were traveling in the same direction when, in a devastating moment, “a rear-end collision occurred,” the patrol said.

According to Bottineau County prosecutors, Jared Jones and Haley Jones were allegedly leaving their son to supervise two other children, aged 4 and 1, for extended periods. Authorities say the situation came to light through multiple investigations.

According to court documents obtained by Valley News Live, a woman called police stating that a man in a nearby vehicle had pointed a firearm at her and her boyfriend while they were stopped at a red light. The couple quickly fled the area but managed to take a picture of the suspect vehicle and its license plate. That same vehicle was later stopped by police on the 4400 block of Main Avenue. Officers confirmed the plate matched the couple’s report.
