JAMESTOWN —- The track surrounding the football field at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium was packed with athletes throughout the entirety of the 701 Apparel Invitational on Friday, May 9. In total, there were 18 boys’ teams and 15 girls’ teams participating in the event. The local teams made up 26 total wins in the event. Both the 100-meter dashes were won by local teams as Jamestown’s Julia Skari won the girls’ race while New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Porter Granger won the boys’ race.

JAMESTOWN — The Hillcrest Women’s Golf Association had four winners out of the 35 who participated in their season opening event on Tuesday, May 6, at the Hillcrest Golf Course. The winners were Savannah Wiese, Tammy Perleberg, Coralynn Dallman and Theresa Haag. Wiese's second shot landed closest to the pin on the second hole, 24 feet away, while Perleberg had the longest drive on the ninth hole and the shortest drive on the 11th hole. Dallman’s chip came 2 feet, 1 inch away from the 12th hole.

JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown softball team officially has their first round opponent in the 2025 NAIA Softball National Tournament. The No. 4-seeded Jimmies will be facing off against No. 5-seeded Arizona Christian University at noon on Monday, May 12, at the region’s top-seeded Oregon Institute of Technology. “A little bit shocked but maybe,” Jimmies head coach Kevin Gall said. “… I thought we could be going to Iowa or Missouri but we’re going to Oregon to play Arizona.

JAMESTOWN — For the first time since 2017, the University of Jamestown women’s wrestling team will be coached by Tony DeAnda when they hit the mat to open the 2025-26 season. DeAnda was officially hired as the head coach on Monday, April 28. “My vision for the program is to have strong athletes in the classroom and on the mat,” DeAnda said. DeAnda said he wanted to return to the Jimmies program because of the people, the university itself and the growth of the sport in the state.
