Two people who exchanged gunfire were killed in a shooting early Sunday near a gas station along Interstate 20 in south Fort Worth, police said. Officers were called to the Valero station at 5529 James Avenue about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 20. A 911 caller reported that their sister had been shot. When officers arrived, they found two shooting victims with wounds to their upper bodies, police said in a news release. Both people were pronounced dead by medics at the scene.

The National Weather Service said it plans to collect damage reports on Easter Sunday after up to nine possible tornadoes were reported in North Texas west of Fort Worth on Saturday night. The weather service will send crews to survey the damage on Monday. There have been no immediate reports of major injuries or deaths. Some of the heaviest damage was reported in Parker County.

The victim told Fort Worth police that she did not know about the plan or consent to the assault, the court documents state. Both men — Everman Deputy Fire Chief Joel Jones and Tobasia Griffiths — were arrested by Fort Worth police last week.
