An infant is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a transport truck and car collided in Centre Rawdon, N.S., on Thursday. Police and emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 14 and South Rawdon Road around 12 p.m. The RCMP says the Freightliner truck was travelling west on the highway and the Chevrolet Cruze was travelling north on South Rawdon Road when they collided.

Police say the teen accused of assaulting two security guards at a hospital in Truro, N.S., threw bleach on them, striking one in the face. The Truro Police Service responded to an assault at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Truro Police Chief Dave MacNeil released more details Thursday, telling CTV News the 16-year-old boy was not a patient, but was visiting someone at the hospital.

Nova Scotia is reporting its first case of measles this year. Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health, confirmed the case during a news conference Tuesday. Strang said the case involves an adult from the Halifax area who received one dose of the vaccine when they were younger. They travelled to the United States and fell ill when they returned to Canada. Strang said the person was diagnosed with measles and treated.

A 51-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in prison for firing a weapon near people in Basswood Ridge, N.B., three years ago. St. Stephen RCMP responded to a report that a firearm had been discharged at two people near a residence in the community on April 24, 2022. No one was injured. Police say the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Bryan Sheppard was arrested two days later and charged with discharging a firearm with intent.

A 74-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving causing death after a 70-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Clinton, P.E.I., in January. Prince District RCMP responded to the single-vehicle collision on Route 6 around 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 1. Police say an SUV left the road and ended up in the ditch. The female passenger died at the scene. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and hospitalized with serious injuries. Following an investigation, James B.
