    A sanctuary for farm animals in Butternut Valley is preparing a charity auction as it looks to grow its capacity to house more animals. Lily’s Place Animal Sanctuary is a charity that cares for injured or displaced farm animals in Codys, N.B., between Coles Island and Cambridge-Narrows. Their online auction runs from April 6 to 19. “It’s a home for farm animals that have nowhere else to go,” said president and co-founder Tim Clancy.

    Saint John Fire Department crews had an all-hands-on-deck response to a structure fire in a five-unit uptown apartment building Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters responded around 3:30 p.m. to a report of a fire at 50 Coburg St., according to Saint John Fire Department platoon chief Josh Hennessy. He said crews found “visible smoke coming from the eaves” of the two-storey building. “Crews went with an aggressive interior attack,” Hennessy said.

    The sports fields at the Princess Louise Park in Sussex are getting a new washroom building after town council approved a tender last week worth almost $286,000. At its meeting March 17, council accepted a bid from Bellebay Construction, Inc. for $285,775 to build a washroom building at Princess Louise Park as an addition to the Rotary Field House. The tender describes the work as renovation of the existing canteen building and addition of a washroom/storage building and shade trellis.

The tweet from the police department came just before 4 p.m., warning that Coburg Street was closed to traffic from Union Street up to Paddock Street.
